We're getting older, but we've never been happier.
That's the conclusion of an extensive new study by the Royal Voluntary Service, which found 63% of over 70s are happier now than they've ever been.
The survey also offers an interesting glimpse into the secrets behind these record levels of happiness.
89% said keeping their brains active was a priority, 75% named a positive outlook on life, 61% cited regular exercise and 66% said laughter was the key.
We believe that retirement planning and financial planning in later life is about much more than money.
Whilst money is necessary to allow you to achieve your goals in life, it is only a means to an end.
Just as important as the financial planning we carry out with our clients as they enter retirement is helping them to understand what a fulfilled retirement might look like.
“Depending, of course, on reasonably good health, I think the secret of a fulfilled and contented later life is to keep the mind open; take an interest in local, national and international affairs; exercise in moderation, enjoy the company and friendship of younger people and hold fast to your sense of humour!”
